In the final walk recommended by our viewers, we return to Discovery Bay. This time to take a cruel 16km hike over two ridges in a half circle that brings us back to the coast at Mui Wo.
On this next recommended walk, we’re following an ancient trail along the North Lantau Island coastline. Starting in the water village of Tai O, the 15 km walk takes you through old fishing villages as it winds it’s way past the new airport to Tung Chung Fort.
On this next recommended walk, we’re tackling the steep climb up to Castle Peak and then making our way to Hong Kong’s famous Pineapple Mountain- a detour that’s worth the view. A challenging trek, made better/tolerable by the cooler climate.
Don’t be fooled by what looks like an easy 15km trail. The Plover Cove Reservoir Country Trail is picturesque but soon gets a lot tougher as the hills rise to around 300m and almost drop to the sea in between. DJ and Jack go to find out more.
In the first of a new Drone and Phone season of recommended walks, DJ and Jack take on East Lantau Island. Starting in Mui Wo, they took a trail up through Tung Wan Tau before a much gentler decent to the Our Lady of Joy Abbey. From there a path takes them down to the coast before walking into Discovery Bay. From there they headed back up to the ridge that runs above and down to Sunny Bay to complete a relatively easy 14 km hike. Many thanks to Doug Treasure for the recommendation.
